Under the direction of John DeSotelle, Nuance Theatre Co. proudly presents CHAMBER MUSIC by absurdist playwright Arthur Kopit.
The story is set in 1938 and revolves around a meeting of eight women to discuss what to do about an imminent attack they fear is mounting from the men’s ward. Housed in a mental asylum, the women are (or at least believe themselves to be) eight famous figures from history: Gertrude Stein, Susan B. Anthony, Joan of Arc, Queen Isabella I, Osa Johnson, Pearl White, Constanze Mozart, and Amelia Earhart.
This production grew from a character study master class initiated during COVID quarantine and has slowly evolved into a main stage production of a Chamber Music like you have not seen before.
Please Note: The depictions of mental health issues among the patients as well as their treatment can be disturbing.
CHAMBER MUSIC is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, New York. Some of the Actors employed in this production are members of Actors’ Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States, opporating under a Showcase contract.
